Renault Megane E-Tech 2025 review: Long-term electric car test of stylish new Hyundai Kona EV rival
The 2025 Renault Megane E-Tech is not the electrified small hatchback you’d traditionally expect from the French brand. Instead, it’s a fully electric SUV, although it’s arguably just a high-riding city car anyway. Either way, it’s taking a serious step forward for the marque in the zero-emissions segment, in which it goes tyre to tyre with the Hyundai Kona Electric, among other models.
As you’d expect, the Megane E-Tech makes a massive statement with its striking European design inside and out, but under the bonnet it’s also making its presence felt with its 160kW/300Nm front-mounted electric motor and 60kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which enables a WLTP-rated driving range of 454km.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Senior Journalist Tom White spends three months living with the Megane E-Tech’s sole variant in Australia, the Techno EV60, to see how well it measures up in everyday life, from the work commute to shopping trips and weekends away.
