The red one is a modern recreation. And it’s actually been or perhaps still is up for sale. An article I read said it had gone to auction twice but hadn’t met reserve.
Neat detail: the rear plate area was designed to be reminiscent of a jet engine. So between that and the fins, that’s why it looks like it’s ready for black paint and a trip flying out of the Batcave.

It cool but.

I like it. Would have been cool body style for a couple years

Bring back tail fins….bring back styling.

What an amazing era of design. It’s too bad we don’t have such artful masterpieces rolling off the assembly lines anymore.

I’m in love 😍

I’ve seen photos of these before, everyone is sleeping on the wagon. That’s where it’s at in my opinion.

Porsche-inspired?
Grand_Trash_3525
Similar to the Thunderbird of the same era?

GM had the best designers in the 50’s, their concept cars that have survived are amazing.

So many prototypes that might have done real well if ever produced

Chevrolet is such a hack car maker

The fastback coupe was such an amazing missed opportunity, it’s so well with the styling.

I seriously get a Porsche 911 vibe from the front windshield to the rear end (minus the fins).
It’s really evident in picture #3

Beautiful. I grew up in the 70’s.. My first car was a used ( second owner) 70 mustang fastback with a 351 Cleveland. With the trailering package ( factory pozi). Wish I had it today… I got it in 78 at 16 yrs old. From Albany Georgia $3,000.00 cash. Candy red with white vinyl. Auto, 8 track radio. I remember working all summer for some Craiger mags. I sold it after returning from College in 84’ for barely much more. I bought a Jeep Renegade for my new Job working in New Hampshire.

They should’ve produced them.

At least it has a proper roof. I can’t stand cars with tents.
