What is that?

I have a 2008 Lexus IS 250. I was looking to replace the front bumper and headlights myself. I’m not sure if there is more damage. Because I don’t want to pay a lot to a mechanic. Where do the plugs go? I know the brown one is for fog lights. I also got the new brand new headlights and the driver side ones work perfect but passenger side has issues. So when I turn on high beam it turn on. But when I turn on the turn signal it doesn’t turn on or low beam. I’m not sure what the problem is? Any advice would be appreciated.

  1. That car has major structural damage. The whole front is shifted over. You need a professional Body Shop. You bolting on new lights and a bumper will not go over well because they will not fit. If you go with your insurance, it is very likely that they will total it.

If you took the cover off. Then you had to disconnect the connectors to do so, you should remember where they went. If you didn’t then it’s a matter of installing the harness and routing it properly. From there you can associate which connector goes to which plug by proximity to each other , number of wires and shape. It’s best to have masking tape and a marker to label each connector with its location so there is zero guess work. Otherwise, look up a wiring diagram online and figure it out from there. However, I highly doubt anything will line up properly because the structure itself is bent. I’m afraid you are going to need a body shop.

Next time, if you think you will be doing it again…

Blue painters tape end a marker. Mark ever plug as you pull it.

Drivers fog light on the plug, and DFL on a piece over recepticle.

Remove bolts, nuts, cotter pins, real screws or plastic screws… wipe them down as they come off and then mark a sandwich bag with what part they belong to and tape it SHUT and to the part also. If i know torques are needed, i slip a file card in there with torque specs, instructions, or measurements.

This will be 3x longer than it needs to be if you dont label anything.

Bro this is the second time I’ve seen you post this. There’s no nice way to say this, your car is fucked. You have significant structural damage to your frame that only a bodyshop can repair and even then, most would tell you not to bother. Go through insurance – they’ll total it, you’ll get paid out, and buy something that doesn’t have a mangled frame.
