For me it was my 1999 Acura 1.6 EL (Canada exclusive 6th gen Civic platform):
Not the fastest, most efficient, comfortable, or practical car I’ve ever owned. It’s the one I miss the most though.
Mine had a DOHC B16A2/S4C swap from an EM1 Civic Si/SiR. The 8,300 RPM redline, short gears, Koni yellows, and endless list of 90’s Honda parts made it a blast to drive no matter how slow it was relative to a modern sports car. It avoided the awful Honda noises with a Mugen twin-loop muffler too.
I was trying to build an OEM+ “EM1 Sedan” that was never available from the factory. Here at least every 6th gen Si/SiR was clapped a decade ago making it too hard to find a decent one.
You could drive the car to its limits without fearing jail, never had to worry about reliability issues, and the parts compatibility was akin to Lego.
I’m on team 1-car only, and want to be on something more modern to DD. So I moved on and sold it, otherwise I’d go buy another today to feed the nostalgia itch..
So what was your favourite car you owned, and why?

so far its been my [1991 325i](https://i.imgur.com/9RzKJzP.jpg), its my 4th E30 and when I got it, it was actually in pretty decent shape. It was my only vehicle for quite a few years and when I got a secondary I got into bigger mods with it. First a 3.2l swap out of a ’98 M3 and then more recently an L92 out of an escalade. Its a pretty light car and managed 400hp/420ft lbs at the tires, so it should be entertaining for quite a few years.
My 1993 Subaru legacy outback wagon. I bought it super cheap and spent a lot of quality time with my Dad fixing it up. Between needing a new set of head gaskets and suspension work, we had a lot to do. After I got it on the road, I kinda fell in love with the car and have had a soft spot for station wagons ever since. It was nothing special but had a ton of room, was AWD and was a top trim level for the time. Kinda wish I didn’t sell it as soon as I did but you live and learn.
I’ve had a ’10 V6 Mustang, ’13 Focus ST, ’20 Mustang GT, and now I’m in a ’21 Supra 3.0.
My little ST is still my favorite car to this day. I was second owner, but besides an exhaust it was bone stock. It was the first car I just fell in love with and spent irresponsible amounts of money modifying. I always liked cars, but owning this really only got me into them more and the communities around them.
I moved to Texas and thought I was ready to let it go and go RWD, so I fulfilled a childhood dream and got a V8 Mustang with a manual. Fuck that car, once honeymoon period wore off I realized I really didn’t like it.
I’ve had my Supra for a little over a year now, it’s a great car and I really do like it. I just don’t have the same love for it as I did my ST.
I’ve posted here about my favorite before. I own the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti that was the corporate exec car for the CEO of Ferrari, Luca di Montezemolo. It is a custom spec One to One car that was owned a registered by Ferrari Sp.A. in Switzerland. Luca used it as his Swiss car when he was in Geneva as president of the F1 team owners association. I bought it from Ferrari directly after they owned it for a couple of years. It is a one off spec car that includes a full cat back sport exhaust from a 599 GTB, a full leather interior and trunk with matching luggage, custom color paint and a slew of other things that were not offered on the 612 and are listed a special equipment on the build sheet.
I drive the shit out of it as a GT car and it has been all over Europe on holidays and weekend get aways. It is a car I drive and enjoy.
That Acura is sweet, OP! 90s Hondas have a special place in my heart too. So simple.
2004 Mitsubishi lancer sportback ralliart
Fun to drive, roomy, and at least as good, if not better, than the Hondas and Toyotas I’ve owned for maintenance. Was a fantastic car.
My 1992 3000GT SL
Yeah it wasn’t turbo and it was fwd
But damn it looked so amazing, pop up headlights and testarossa-esque sideskirts! I always looked back at it when walking away multiple times.
The SL had automatic climate control, power adjustable leather seats with lumbar support, a sunroof that can detach and be stored in the trunk, and tons of other great comforts. And the DOHC NA engine still made like 220hp so it was still a comfortable touring car, and fit most driving scenarios just fine. It actually handled great in the winter with winter tires too
I still have a dream to get a VR4 someday.
And my Mk6 GTI was the car I really wish I didn’t sell. The GTI is a great formula if you value some practicality while still getting to enjoy being a car enthusiast.
My 95 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL. It was my first real sports car. It wasn’t the VR4 but I loved it anyway. Put a bunch of money into it and had a blast with it. Wish I never sold that thing
My Scion FRS was a pure thrill and joy to drive.
Not a ton of torque or power but it was so much FUN. The road connection was unreal. I LOVED how low to the ground it was, and how connected to the road it made me feel. Made every drive a thrill.
But I just didn’t FIT. At 6’7″, and after months of back and neck pain, I had to cut my losses and trade it for a sports car I actually fit in. My Challenger is fun, fast as hell, and exponentially more comfortable. But every day I miss the road feel of the FRS.
1991 mitsubishi 3000gt vr4. i love the tech, the looks, and mine pushes about 850hp which helps.
Close second is my first car, an fb rx7, because it was so simple yet fun.
Ive really loved all my cars but #1 would have to be my 05 wk jeep grand cherokee. i put a lot of work into it, loved the way it rode on and off pavement, and kept it around for years as a project after i broke some shit on it and didnt drive it anymore. eventually I got it running, did all the maintenance and such, and gave it to a family member in dire need of a vehicle to make way for another project. he had a buddy he took it straight over to from my house and they did some redneckgineering and it grenaded the motor immediately somehow.
I would say my STI swapped Subaru Forester. A close second would be my built 1991 Honda Civic LX. That car was a beast! Making 300hp at 17psi of boost out of a built D16z6.
My current car is a 2019 Honda Civic Si and I love it. It’s a practical daily driver but can also handle some twisty canyon roads on the weekends. The VW GTI, Toyota GR86, and Subaru WRX probably will beat the Si and most comparison tests but I think it’s the best car to live with, especially when you can only own one car.
My 1997 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo with a manual transmission and a targa top. It was just a really great tourer and it got lots of attention everywhere. This was before the F&the F, so it was just a popular car that I really enjoyed driving and it never let me down or stranded. I’d probably still have it if it weren’t too small to put kids in the rear seat car seats.
I’ve only owned a handful of vehicles in my life, and none of them were project cars or performance cars. But my favorite would have to be my blue 2013 Ford Fiesta Titanium manual hatchback. I got it used for like $10k back in 2016. It was the first car I fully paid off, it helped me move across my state, i learned how to drive manual with that car. it was perfect in every way. I abused that vehicle in the beginning because of learning how to drive manual lol. But it put up with me. I called it my “lil blueberry.” I’m sad I gave it up, but I’m working on getting it back. I can’t wait until I can cruise and shift gears in it again. I’ll never let it go ever again.
My 1989 5.0 mustang hatchback. It was my first car and I was 16 years old. I had a twin brother and we had to share the car. We drove the shit out of it. Sadly, we both lost our lisence by the 2nd year we owned it. Too many speedy tickets. So many fond memories in that car.
2013 vw Jetta, I have had this car almost 10 years now and it hasn’t given me any issues aside from maintenance items or stuff that I wanted to do (6 speed swap).
2000 and 2002 Toyota 4Runner. Love the rear window roll down, space, the interior is nice, great build quality and can go anywhere. It is my perfect car. I would gladly buy a 2024 with the same design specs with updated safety features.
What is this ?!
My 1989 Mercedes Benz 560SL
2001 subaru forester STI (rhd, imported from japan, only ever produced for the japanese domestic market)
turbo flat 4 with AWD, it was lowered on coilovers, and i had gold advan rg2 wheels on it
it looked, sounded, and drove amazing until the engine blew up (i still own it i just need the money to fix it at some point) i really don’t want to sell it
Kia Sportage.
I’ve owned two cars.
