A story of progress: Johanna Klewitz

Progress is change in action. I think we live in very privileged conditions and an environment, and with that comes a responsibility. And in my job, I have the opportunity to live up to that responsibility. Hi, my name is Johanna Klewitz

And I am the Head of Supply Chain Sustainability at Audi. Sustainability has been like the red thread through my career. So during my studies and also my Ph.D., then working in the consumer industry before then switching to Audi. I just knew if I want to work in sustainability,

It’s going to be in procurement, it’s going to be in supply chain. It’s the key lever that we have on the path to sustainable transformation. At Audi, ESG and sustainable transformation is really key, and we really aim to make ESG part of our entire decision-making processes.

We are looking at the vehicle from a lifecycle perspective across the entire value chain. We are taking action at every single step of the value chain, so be it decarbonization, increasing the amount of partially recycled material, making sure that we work with partners who share our values

And that we really, wherever we can, invest in more sustainable transformation. So, I think our pathway to a more sustainable company doesn’t change the quality or the safety aspects of our products. It’s simply that we work against better standards. A future buyer can expect from Audi that we really

Take sustainable transformation seriously. We are aiming for more purposeful products. We are ready to challenge the status quo and we have a very clear commitment to the way that we are going to be doing business. And I think what really keeps me going is this idea of

Putting change really into actions. What’s your story of progress?

For Johanna Klewitz, Head of Supply Chain Sustainability at Audi, progress means implementing tangible change and taking responsibility for sustainability throughout every stage of car manufacturing.
