Audi RS 6 Avant GT – Design walkaround
My name is Jürgen Löffler. I am an exterior designer at Audi. Today, I’m seeing the vehicle for the first time on the road as a production vehicle. It looks extremely wide and muscular. It makes a really good impression.
The IMSA GTO was our inspiration, our icon, our role model for the RS 6 Avant GT. From the air inlets to the decals to the double wing. We can now admire it again on the RS 6 Avant GT. At the front, we have a completely redesigned bumper.
A new singleframe that’s much flatter. We have put a new mesh inside the Singleframe. The lower area has a lip spoiler.. ..which allows the vehicle to really hug the road. We incorporated plenty of heritage into the vehicle. On the one hand, the three elements at the front,
But also to the rims inspired by our famous Avus. The rim looks very deep with a pronounced funnel shape. Six spokes, 22-inch diameter. It gives the vehicle a unique character. For the first time, we have a hood made entirely of carbon fiber. We wanted customer to have the opportunity to see this.
Therefore, exposed carbon on the upper surface and on the three-dimensional elements. The RS 6 Avant GT has been given a unique fender. With newly designed air outlets at the rear allowing the air to pass through really well. With a GT badge on the side.
The heritage wrap is inspired by our race cars from the 1980s. With the three Audi Sport colors. It’s possible to order the vehicle with this heritage wrap. But also in two other color versions.. ..which give the vehicle a slightly more subtle look. The rims are made to match the chosen color and wrap.
We wanted to make the vehicle even sportier, even flatter. Without the roof rails… ..the lines now flow beautifully into the rear spoiler. The most important feature at the rear is our new double wing. It looks very powerful and dominant. It gives the vehicle that racetrack look.
The diffuser takes up the same racing theme as the rear wing. We have three vertical elements in the inner area. Air passes through them. The central vertical element features a reflector. For the RS GT Avant only, the badges are in the three Audi Sport colors.
Both at the front and on the rear end. The RS 6 Avant GT is fitted with RS bucket seats for the first time. With the reverse sides made from carbon fiber. This goes together perfectly with the exterior. The sports seats feature a honeycomb pattern with contrasting red and copper stitching.
This makes the vehicle look very elegant and sporty. The RS 6 Avant GT is a limited edition of 660 vehicles. We’ve made this consecutive numbering visible in the vehicle.. ..which offers customers an absolute feeling of exclusivity. It’s obviously a dream to work on any RS 6. Especially the top-of-the-line model, the GT.
With its large wheels.. ..and wide cheeks. The vehicle sits low on the ground. It looks incredibly muscular. It’s every designer’s dream.
