Im from europe, i remember back in 2007 my best friend had a 1983 Camaro imported to europe.
It had the 2.5l Iron Duke engine.
It was absolutely awful and slow and sluggish..it sounded so shitty, i made fun of him that someone ripped him off and sold him s car with a rodknock because i really thought that.
That engine sounded like someone threw some screws, pencils, rocks, sand and used condoms into the crankcase. It sounded absolutely ridicilous. until 2000rpm it sounded kinda throaty and everything from 2000 and up sounded like absolute torture. That engine moaned just trying keeping up with traffic.

The car was totalled 5 years ago and the engine is now powering his small fishing boat with over 300k miles on it….still having a rodknock or whatever the fuck that sound is.

he is actually waiting for it to break because he has a real Yamah outboard engine now waiting to get installed🤣

1.9 TDI VW diesel engines. They are bulletproof.

I see Oldsmobile Cutlass Cieras around still, the old-fashioned kind built in the 1990s.

6th Gen Honda Accords. They’re STILL fucking everywhere.

Ford AU falcon. Looks like a cockroach too

  7. fuckedfonances

Any Buick running the 3800. That engine was fantastically built.

I’ve heard that the Inline 6 Nova’s and Valiants from the 60’s just won’t stop. Change the oil and it will outlive you

  9. ConfidenceNational37

Still see quite a few older Buicks with the 3800 around

Late 90’s-early 2k’s Camrys: my grandparents bought one from a rental company, daily drove it for 20 years, crashed it several times, it was parked outside for two hurricanes, then I got it, crashed it, fixed it and it’s still running with no mechanical issues

Early 2000s suburbans/tahoes. Knew soo many people with those growing up and 20 years later they’re still going.

Old Squarebody Chevys, and Dentside Bullnose and Bricknose fords for some reason they just keep running no matter how much is wrong with them

  13. AnewmanDesign

Subaru loyale. 1.6 carburetor ones just goes.

1991-2002 Saturn S series. SL, SL 1, SL 2, SW1, SW2, SC1, SC2. The SL was the least expensive variant. I bought one brand new in the spring of 2001. The manual transmission, plus SPS (Saturn Performance Specialist) and seeing the First Fast and Furious in the theater. Spent so much money on the “rubber maid race car”.

VY & VS commodores, still see them quite a bit. Australia btw

Cavaliers. Gm’s motto should be we run shittier for longer

  17. KittehKittehKat

I see ancient F150s still used as work trucks where I live.

  18. fordbeamer

B15 Nissan Sentras (2000 – 2006). The autos shifted like shit from the factory, but they’ll shift like shit forever!

My father had an 05′ accord. He put about 350 – 400K on it and never had a problem with it. Only had to change oil and do the regular maintenance to it. Shame he traded that car when he got his new car.

  20. LostTurtleExperiment

    90s – early 2000s Toyota camrys

  21. Unexpected-raccoon

A lot of 3800 Buicks, specially the gen 1s and gen 3s

Gen 2s had an issue with plastic plenums warping and/or cracking

    Toyotas especially the Camrys

  22. Th3V3ngeful0ne

Ford Rangers. Specifically the gen 2 and gen 3. Those trucks CAN NOT BE KILLED.

  23. **most** 90s chevy suburbans/ trucks. i have 2 suburbans, one has 302k and another has 209k, and a gmc k1500 with 285k. they go until the wheels fall off (literally, a wheel fell off once.)

  24. Alarming_General

Corollas. Corollas from 1996 or so?

  25. cobra_mist

Plenty of Volvo 240’s out there. Last made in ‘94.

Plenty of original design beetles still out there.

    Fox bodies, third gen Camaros.

And the Chevy cavalier. They run like shit, but they’ll run like shit forever

  26. BackOnTheMap

Volvo 240s and 850s. I also see a surprising number of Saturn Vue on the road
