Recently there was an interesting [Norwegian range test](https://www.motor.no/bil/rekkeviddetesten-sommeren-2023/249773) (google translate it) where they range tested tested many new EVs on the same day. It was a hot summer day, so very good conditions to achieve a good range.
Sadly, I can’t post images, but click the link for a graph showing the result.
The best absolute range score was done the Tesla Model S Long Range (4WD) with WLTP of 634 km but real score of 672 km (+6% above WLTP).
The highest percentage above WLTP was won by the Xpeng G9 Performance (that’s the least efficient AWD version of this car) with a score of +13% higher in range than WLTP (WLTP of 520 km, real score of 588 km). I ordered an Xpeng G9 in the Netherlands so I was happy to see this result.
The Xpeng P7 scored second place in percentage above WLTP with +10.7%. Also nice.
A quick comparison: Another Chinese car in the same segment, the Nio EL7 AWD scored -13% (509km WLTP, measured range : 444km). Not very good at all.
To compare it with a German car in the same segment: the Audi Q8 e-tron Sportback 55 AWD has a WLTP of 536km but a measured range in this test of 529km (-1.3%). That’s 59km less than the 40% cheaper G9 Performance. And this G9 is also faster in 0-100 than the Audi sport version, charges faster and offers better luxury. The G9 seems like a total no-brainer if you’re looking for an electric luxury SUV, it seems great for the price in every way. I’m happy about that.
