The Marreau brothers, Claude (driver) and Bernard (co-driver), set off on a round-the-world trip in a Renault 4 in 1967. The film of their adventure, “l’autre côté du temps”, was submitted to the Cannes Film Festival in 1969 and won the best amateur film prize.
In 1978, the project Paris-Dakar was born and the two brothers were the first to sign up to participate in the first rally 1979, and finished 5th. A year later, in their R4, against 382 competing cars and 12,427 km of track, “the desert foxes” finished on the podium in 3rd place!
