It’s fair to say Ford has taken its time when it comes to introducing electric cars to Australia – but its first EV is finally here! The only thing is it’s not the Mustang Mach-E SUV we all expected. Instead, it’s the 2023 Ford E-Transit van.

Yep, the E-Transit is not nearly as exciting as the Mustang Mach-E on paper, but it arguably makes a lot more sense in 2023 Australia. After all, fleet buyers are well positioned, infrastructure, to operate a zero-emissions LCV, whereas most private buyers would need to make more significant changes to charge a Mustang Mach-E in their day-to-day lives.

Either way, in this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Dave Morley puts the new E-Transit through its paces to see if it actually offers usable driving range and tradie levels of practicality in equal measure.
